There was a minor upset when 10th ranked Ancona (8-14) lost at home to twelfth ranked Vigarano (7-16) 53-48 on Saturday. Power forward Ludovica Sammartino (183-2005) notched 8 points and 13 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Veronica Perini (175-1988) supported her with 12 points. Even 18 points and 6 rebounds by point guard Margherita Mataloni (170-1995) did not help to save the game for Ancona. Power forward Serena Bona (183-1989, agency: SLN) added 11 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Ancona's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Vigarano maintains twelfth position with 7-16 record, which they share with Ponzano. Newly promoted Ancona keeps the tenth place with 14 games lost. Vigarano will meet at home higher ranked RO SAzzurra (#11) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Ancona will play against the league's leader Empoli having rather not much hope for a victory.
