Regular Season Round 23: Rivas - SBA 103-55

There was no surprise when 14th ranked SBA (2-19) was crushed on the road by fifth ranked Rivas (13-7) 103-55 on Saturday. Rivas dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to SBA's 30. They outrebounded SBA 47-16 including a 16-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Rivas looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by SBA's players. It was a great evening for point guard David Avila (182-1995) who led his team to a victory scoring 9 points and 9 assists. Forward Eduardo Gomez (192-1993) helped adding 15 points and 4 assists. Four Rivas players scored in double figures. Gibraltar guard Tal Zvi Bar (173-2004) responded with 13 points and guard Victor Fernandez (190-1998) scored 8 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Rivas moved-up to fourth place, which they share with La Zubia. Newly promoted SBA keeps the fourteenth position with 19 games lost. They share it with Boadilla. Rivas will meet Alcala (#5) on the road in the next round. SBA will play against Aridane (#9) and hope to secure a win.
