Regular Season Round 19: Aulnoye - Champagne 63-51

There was a minor upset when 4th placed Champagne (10-9) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Aulnoye (10-9) 63-51 on Saturday. Aulnoye forced 24 Champagne turnovers. It was a great evening for Mali power forward Meiya Tirera (188-1986) who led her team to a victory scoring 20 points and 9 rebounds. Swingman Mariama Daramy (180-2002) helped adding 18 points and 8 steals. At the losing side power forward Stepha MBaye (181-1995, agency: Basket Promotion Agency) responded with 16 points and 7 rebounds (made all of her eight free throws) and American guard Jill Townsend (180, college: Gonzaga) scored 6 points and 9 rebounds. Aulnoye have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with defeated Champagne. Aulnoye will meet league's second-placed Chartres on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Champagne will play against Monaco and hope to secure a win.
