Everything went according to plan in Mahon where second ranked Menorca (18-6) beat 12th ranked L'Hospitalet (6-17) 81-70 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was French Edwin Jackson (190-1989, agency: BeoBasket) who scored 20 points. Chilean guard Ignacio Arroyo-Varela (190-2000) chipped in 14 points and 5 assists. Four Menorca players scored in double figures. Forward Gerard Sevillano (196-1994, agency: BIG) produced 15 points and American guard Grant Lozoya (190-1995, college: Pitt St.) added 18 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Menorca. They maintain second place with 18-6 record having five points less than leader Prat. Newly promoted L'Hospitalet keeps the twelfth position with 17 games lost. They share it with Alginet. Menorca will meet Mollet (#14) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. L'Hospitalet will play against Alginet and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
