Regular Season Round 19: Kavkasia - Delta 78-89

The game between third ranked Kavkasia (11-6) and seventh ranked Delta (9-9) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Kavkasia was defeated by Delta in Tbilisi 78-89. The game was mostly controlled by Delta. Kavkasia managed to win third quarter 24-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Delta looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Kavkasia helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Avi Toomer (190-1997, college: Bucknell) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Derick Newton (198-1995, college: Stetson) contributed with 19 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Toomer is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Delta players scored in double figures. Guard Justin Forrest (188, college: App State) answered with 24 points and 6 rebounds and guard Chris McNeal (185-1997, college: Cincinnati) added 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Kavkasia. Delta maintains seventh place with 9-9 record. Newly promoted Kavkasia keeps the third position with six games lost. Delta are looking forward to face higher ranked Cactus (#6) in Tbilisi in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kavkasia will play at home against Kutaisi and is hoping to win this game.
