Second Stage Round 3: Rennes - Rouen 68-87

Rather expected game when Union Rennes (1-2) was crushed at home by SPO Rouen (3-0) 87-68 on Saturday. SPO Rouen forced 24 Union Rennes turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American-Jamaican Andell Cumberbatch (195-1993, college: St.Bonaventure) who scored 9 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Point guard William Mensah (175-1995) chipped in 13 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Guinean forward Cheick Sekou-Conde (203-1992) who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and center Francois Matip (202-2000) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. SPO Rouen will meet at home Vitre (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Union Rennes will play against Caen and hope to win that game.
