Regular Season Round 23: Megaridas - AO Triton 71-70

The most exciting game of round 23 in the A2 took place in Megara. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of second-ranked AO Triton (14-8) to tenth ranked Megaridas (12-10) 71-70 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of AO Triton. Strangely AO Triton outrebounded Megaridas 38-25 including 25 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Megaridas made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was Dimitrios Geromichalos who scored 19 points and 4 assists. Guard Angelos Gatzias (195-1994) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. Megaridas' coach Giorgos Mandalos used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Center Panagiotis Tsamis (204-2002) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 15 rebounds and guard Kostas Koufopoulos (187-1999) added 9 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for the guests. Newly promoted Megaridas maintains tenth place with 12-10 record. AO Triton at the other side dropped to the third position with eight games lost. They share it with Eleftheroupoli. Megaridas are looking forward to face higher ranked Panerythraikos (#5) in New Eritrea in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. AO Triton will play at home against Aias Evosmou and is hoping to win this game.
