Regular Season Round 23: Jaen - Eurogaza 84-73

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 5th ranked Eurogaza (12-9) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Jaen (12-9) 84-73 on Saturday. Jaen dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Eurogaza's 24. It was a great evening for forward Javier Santabarbara (197-1995) who led his team to a victory scoring 30 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Ivan Casas (185-2003) helped adding 24 points and 5 rebounds. Argentinian-Croatian point guard Valentin Burgos (184-1992) responded with 24 points and 4 assists and center Roberto Merino (205-2001) scored 8 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Jaen moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Eurogaza. Jaen will meet higher ranked El Pinar (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Eurogaza will play against Unicaja-Andalucia in Malaga and hope to secure a win.
