No shocking result in a game when third ranked Gijon (17-5) defeated at home 8th ranked Xiria (9-13) 72-60 on Saturday. Gijon made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Xiria turnovers. It was a great evening for guard Alan Morchon (188-1999) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points. Javier Lucas (207-1986) helped adding 11 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Pau Isern (189-2001, agency: Promo Sport ID) responded with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and Croatian Andrija Barac (-2002) scored 10 points. Four Xiria players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Gijon moved-up to second place, which they share with Barca 2. Xiria lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth position with 13 games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Gijon will meet Betanzos (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Xiria will play against Covadonga and hope to secure a win.
