Regular Season Round 23: Leon - Logrono 73-78

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 8th ranked Leon (10-12) was defeated at home by ninth ranked Logrono (10-11) 78-73 on Saturday. It was a great evening for point guard Maria Gonzalez (175-1998) who led her team to a victory scoring 9 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Austrian guard Anna Alborova (183-2005) helped adding 16 points. Logrono's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Dominican Cesarina Capellan (178-2003) responded with 27 points and 7 rebounds and Julia Martinez scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Logrono moved-up to eighth place. Leon at the other side dropped to the ninth position with 12 games lost. Logrono will meet higher ranked Almeria (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Leon will play against Sevilla (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
