There was no surprise when 15th ranked Granada (7-16) lost on the road to eighth ranked Valencia (13-10) 80-72 on Sunday. Valencia made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Granada turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for American James Webb III (203-1993, college: Boise St.) who led the winners and scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. American-Armenian guard Chris Jones (188-1993, college: Angelo St.) accounted for 10 points and 6 assists for the winning side. Five Valencia players scored in double figures. Senegalese center Youssou Ndoye (213-1991, college: St.Bonaventure) came up with 19 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and American forward Luke Maye (203-1997, college: UNC) added 9 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Granada in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Valencia. They maintain eighth place with 13-10 record. Newly promoted Granada keeps the fifteenth position with 16 games lost. Valencia will meet Zaragoza (#14) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Granada will play against Murcia and hope to secure a win.
