Rather predictable result when fourth ranked Benicarlo (16-7) smashed on the road 7th ranked Cartagena (11-12) 60-41 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was power forward Alejandro Rivas (203-1998) who scored 16 points. American-Italian point guard Anthony Libroia (180-1994, college: Adelphi) chipped in 7 points and 4 assists. Center Sergio Mendiola (207-1996) produced 8 points and 6 rebounds and guard Victor Aguilar (185-1998) added 4 points, 5 assists and 4 steals respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Benicarlo moved-up to second place, which they share with Clavijo. Loser Cartagena keeps the seventh position with 12 games lost. They share it with La Roda. Benicarlo will meet at home Salou (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cartagena will play against Palma (#5) in S'Arenal and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
