Regular Season Round 24: Gipuzkoa - Burgos 84-79

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in San Sebastian where 8th ranked Burgos (14-10) was defeated by ninth ranked Gipuzkoa (14-10) 84-79 on Sunday. Gipuzkoa made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Justin Jaworski (190-1999, college: Lafayette) who helped to win the game recording 30 points (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!) and forward Ander Martinez (194-1995) who added 16 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) during the contest. The best for the losing side was Austrian-Slovenian center Rasid Mahalbasic (210-1990, agency: BeoBasket) with 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and Slovenian point guard Luka Rupnik (186-1993, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 9 points and 7 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Gipuzkoa moved-up to eighth place, which they share with defeated Burgos. Gipuzkoa will meet Iraurgi SB (#17) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Burgos will play against Castello (#11) and hope to secure a win and be promoted back to the Liga Endesa just one year after relegation.
