There was no surprise in Novelda where 13th ranked Jorge Juan (1-21) was defeated by eighth ranked Ontinet (10-11) 70-58 on Sunday. It was a great evening for power forward Pablo Iborra (203-1997) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 8 rebounds. Dutch forward Lawrence Slim (201-1998, college: Flagler) helped adding 13 points and 8 rebounds. Antonio Mira responded with 10 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and Mateo Fernandez (-1995) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Ontinet. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams. Jorge Juan lost their third game in a row. Jorge Juan at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the thirteenth position with 21 games lost. They share it with Covadonga and Agora Portals. Ontinet will meet at home higher ranked Murcia 2 (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Jorge Juan will play against Caja Rural (#12) in Zamora and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
