Regular Season Round 25: Venezia - San Martino 80-55
Date: March 19, 2023
Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked San Martino (10-15) was rolled over on the road by third ranked Venezia (21-4) 80-55 on Sunday. Venezia outrebounded San Martino 41-26 including a 30-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international forward Martina Fassina (183-1999) fired 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Japanese point guard Shiori Yasuma (161-1994) chipped in 13 points. American forward Dejza James (185-1995, college: Arizona) produced 17 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import guard Delicia Washington (178-1997, college: Clemson) added 16 points respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Venezia. They maintain third place with 21-4 record having just two points less than leader Bologna. Loser San Martino keeps the ninth position with 15 games lost. Venezia will meet San Giovanni (#5) in the next round. San Martino will play against Campobasso (#6) and hope to secure a win.
