Regular Season Round 19: Panathinaikos - Olympiacos 74-76

The most exciting game of round 19 in the GBL took place in Athens. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of their biggest opponent Panathinaikos (14-4) to leader Olympiacos (18-0) 76-74 in the game for the first place. Olympiacos looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Cypriot-Bulgarian forward Aleksandar Vezenkov (206-1995) fired 9 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American guard Isaiah Canaan (183-1991, college: Murray St.) chipped in 12 points. Lithuanian swingman Marius Grigonis (198-1994) produced 13 points and 5 rebounds and Lithuanian center Arturas Gudaitis (211-1993) added 10 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Panathinaikos players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Olympiacos have an impressive series of eighteen victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 18-0 record. Panathinaikos at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. Olympiacos are looking forward to face Lavrio (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Panathinaikos' supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena AEK.
