Very important is a road loss of third ranked Vilpas (16-16) against fourth ranked Kataja (16-16) on Wednesday night. Visiting Vilpas was defeated by Kataja in Joensuu 111-95. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Vilpas. The game was mostly controlled by Kataja. Vilpas managed to win third quarter 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Kataja looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American-Nigerian forward Amaze Egekeze (203-1995, college: Belmont) fired 31 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American guard Lamonte Turner (188-1997, college: Tennessee) chipped in 22 points. American guard Remy Abell (193-1992, college: Xavier) produced 26 points and his fellow American import guard Quentin Goodin (193-1997, college: Xavier, agency: Diamond Sports) added 15 points and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Five Kataja and four Vilpas players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kataja moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Vilpas.
