Regular Season Round 24: GTK - Sokol 87-86

There was an upset in Gliwice where higher ranked Sokol (8-16) was edged by fifteenth ranked GTK (8-15) 87-86 on Thursday. The best player for the winners was Bulgarian-American point guard Earl Rowland (189-1983, college: St.Mary's, CA) who scored 27 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). American swingman Malachi Richardson (198-1996, college: Syracuse) chipped in 27 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Corey Sanders (188-1997, college: Rutgers) who recorded 23 points and 5 assists and his fellow American import guard Delano Spencer (193-1994, college: Tennessee St.) added 21 points respectively. Four Sokol players scored in double figures. Sokol's coach Marek Lukomski tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. GTK moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Arka. Newly promoted Sokol dropped to the thirteenth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Astoria and Start. GTK will meet at home league's leader WKS Slask in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Sokol will play against Trefl (#3) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
