The game in Grindavik was also quite interesting. 4th placed Haukar (13-8) played at the court of sixth ranked Grindavik (11-10). Grindavik managed to secure a 5-point victory 77-72 on Thursday. Haukar trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 16-9 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 72-77 at the end of the game. Grindavik looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international guard Olafur Olafsson (194-1990) nailed a triple-double by scoring 14 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists for the winning side and American point guard Damier Pitts (177-1989, college: Marshall, agency: SLN) accounted for 21 points. Pitts is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Lithuanian power forward Norbertas Giga (208-1995, college: JSU) came up with 18 points and 9 rebounds and American point guard Dee Davis (178-1993, college: Xavier) added 19 points and 4 assists respectively for Haukar in the defeat. Five Grindavik and four Haukar players scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Grindavik. They maintain sixth place with 11-10 record. Newly promoted Haukar dropped to the third position with eight games lost. They share it with Keflavik. Grindavik will meet Thor Thorl (#7) in the next round. Haukar will play against Breidablik (#10) and hope to secure a win.
