Regular Season Round 21: Stjarnan - Thor Thorl 84-98

The game between closely ranked teams ended with seventh ranked Thor Thorl's (10-11) road victory over 8th ranked Stjarnan (8-13) 98-84 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Thor Thorl. Stjarnan managed to win fourth quarter 30-29. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Thor Thorl forced 20 Stjarnan turnovers. American point guard Vinnie Shahid (180-1998, college: NDSU) nailed 38 points (!!!) and 5 assists (on 15-of-19 shooting from the field) for the winning side and American-French forward Jordan Semple (201-1992, college: Chico St.) accounted for 17 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Swedish William Gutenius (206-1992) came up with 18 points and 5 rebounds and Danish guard Adama Darboe (190-1986, agency: Slash Sports) added 17 points respectively for Stjarnan in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Thor Thorl maintains seventh place with 10-11 record. Loser Stjarnan keeps the eighth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Hottur and Breidablik. Thor Thorl will meet at home higher ranked Grindavik (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Stjarnan will play against KR in Reykjavik and hope to secure a win.
