Very expected game when 13th ranked Oviedo (7-18) was smashed on the road by third ranked Coruna (18-7) 87-62 on Friday. Coruna outrebounded Oviedo 37-26 including 25 on the defensive glass. Nigerian-American power forward Lotanna Nwogbo (205-1993, college: Longwood) nailed 20 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and Croatian point guard Goran Filipovic (183-1996, agency: 011 Sports) accounted for 12 points and 5 assists. Coruna's coach Diego Epifanio felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Center Oliver Arteaga (207-1983) came up with 13 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Romeo Crouch (193, college: Embry Riddle) added 13 points and 4 steals respectively for Oviedo in the defeat. Coruna have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain third place with 18-7 record having five points less than leader Palencia. Loser Oviedo dropped to the fourteenth position with 18 games lost. They share it with Almansa. Coruna will meet Alicante (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Oviedo will play against Melilla (#18) and hope to secure a win.
