Very predictable result when eighth ranked Xiria (10-13) won against 14th ranked Covadonga (1-22) in Carballo 88-74 on Saturday. Xiria dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Covadonga's 30 and made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Covadonga 42-27 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by guard Pau Isern (189-2001, agency: Promo Sport ID) who scored that evening 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Asier Comendeiro (196-1996) supported him with 18 points. Even a double-double of 15 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists by point guard Diego Cuetos (178-2004) did not help to save the game for Covadonga. Juan Noguero added 11 points and 10 rebounds. Four Covadonga players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Xiria maintains eighth position with 10-13 record, which they share with Pinta Castell. Covadonga lost fourth consecutive game. Covadonga at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the thirteenth place with 22 games lost. They share the position with Agora Portals and Jorge Juan. Xiria will meet La Flecha (#12) in the next round. Covadonga's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Gijon Gijon.
