Regular Season Round 24: Novaschool - La Zubia 87-78

There was a minor upset when 4th ranked La Zubia (13-8) lost to seventh ranked Novaschool (9-12) in Malaga 78-87 on Saturday. Novaschool outrebounded La Zubia 48-36 including 36 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by Oscar Diaz (190-2002) who scored that evening 21 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Ruben Salas (207-2003) supported him with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Even 23 points, 7 assists and 6 steals by point guard David Garcia Gazquez (180-1993) did not help to save the game for La Zubia. Forward Javier Hernandez (201-1993) added 13 points and 9 rebounds. Four La Zubia players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Novaschool maintains seventh position with 9-12 record, which they share with Majadahonda. La Zubia lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with eight games lost. They share the position with CBSFDO. Novaschool will meet higher ranked Jaen (#5) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. La Zubia will play against the league's second-placed Oh!Tels ULB where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
