The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Athens: AEK (#4) and Panathinaikos (#2). AEK (12-7) won against visiting Panathinaikos (14-5) 77-73. AEK made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. Panamanian-American center Akil Mitchell (206-1992, college: Virginia) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points and 6 rebounds. American forward Isaiah Miles (203-1994, college: St.Joseph's) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) for the winners. Four AEK players scored in double figures. American Dwayne Bacon (201-1995, college: FSU) replied with 22 points and 9 rebounds and Lithuanian swingman Marius Grigonis (198-1994) added 17 points in the effort for Panathinaikos. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. AEK have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 12-7 record. Panathinaikos lost third consecutive game. They keep the second place with five games lost. AEK are looking forward to face PAOK (#5) in Thessaloniki in the next round. Panathinaikos will play at home against Apollon P. and is hoping to win this game.
