Regular Season Round 20: Apollon P. - Promitheas 68-57

There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Apollon P. (5-15) beat higher ranked Promitheas (10-9) in Patras 68-57 on Saturday. Apollon P. outrebounded Promitheas 46-33 including 17 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by American swingman Tevin Mack (198-1997, college: Clemson, agency: MSG) who scored that evening 27 points and the former international center Georgios Bogris (210-1989) supported him with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 12 points by American guard Joe Thomasson (193-1993, college: Wright St., agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for Promitheas. His fellow American import Dustin Hogue (198-1992, college: Iowa St.) added 8 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Apollon P. maintains tenth position with 5-15 record. Loser Promitheas keeps the sixth place with nine games lost. Apollon P. will meet league's second-placed Panathinaikos in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Promitheas will play against Peristeri (#3) and hope to secure a win.
