There was an upset when higher ranked Genero (11-12) was edged by twelfth ranked Coruna (8-14) in Las Palmas 59-56 on Saturday. The winners were led by North Macedonian guard Aleksandra Stojanovska (178-1994) who scored that evening 16 points and 6 rebounds and Eugenia Filgueira (-1995) supported her with 7 points and 8 rebounds. Coruna's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Even 18 points and 6 rebounds by forward Carolina Mateo (185-2000) did not help to save the game for Genero. Iranzu Drake (-1986) added 9 points and 6 rebounds. Coruna moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Sevilla. Genero lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 12 games lost. Coruna will meet at home higher ranked Arxil (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Genero will play against Logrono and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
