Not a big story in a game when 13th ranked Cerdanyola (6-18) was outscored by fifth ranked Maresme (15-9) in Barcelona 84-57 on Saturday. Maresme had a 29-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by Laia Soler (185-2001, college: Boise St.) who scored that evening 19 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and swingman Paula Curto (175-1997) supported her with 10 points and 6 rebounds. Even 10 points and 9 rebounds by Eva Almasque did not help to save the game for Cerdanyola. Scottish Ruth Allison (177-2000) added 12 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Maresme maintains fifth position with 15-9 record. Cerdanyola lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the twelfth place with 18 games lost. They share the position with Sant Adria. Maresme will meet at home Sant Adria (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cerdanyola will play against Mataro and hope to secure a win.
