Regular Season Round 24: Martinenc - Granollers 89-96

There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Granollers (11-12) defeated 6th ranked Martinenc (11-12) in Barcelona 96-89 on Saturday. Granollers made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. The winners were led by Jordi Serra (-1995) who scored that evening 26 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Alejandro Castro (179-1991) supported him with 20 points. Even 21 points and 5 rebounds by guard Albert Barquets (189-1998) did not help to save the game for Martinenc. Center Pol Barbecho (203-2002) added 17 points and 7 rebounds. Four Granollers and five Martinenc players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Granollers moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Martinenc. Granollers will meet at home league's leader Barca 2 in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Martinenc will play against Helios (#14) in Zaragoza and hope to secure a win.
