Regular Season Round 24: Girona B - Martorell 72-81

There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Martorell (9-14) won against on the road higher ranked Girona B (13-9) 81-72 on Saturday. Martorell dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Girona B's 26. The winners were led by point guard Albert Valle (181-1992) who scored that evening 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and center Alberto Vicente (199-2003) supported him with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Four Martorell players scored in double figures. Even 16 points and 9 assists (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!) by point guard Adria Moncanut (183-2002) did not help to save the game for Girona B. Ferran Diaz (187-2003, agency: BIG) added 13 points. Martorell moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Porrino and Ourense. Loser Girona B dropped to the fifth position with nine games lost. They share it with 5 other teams. Martorell will meet higher ranked Mataro Parc (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Girona B will play against the league's leader Mataro UE where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
