Very predictable result when eighth ranked Matelica (12-11) defeated at home 14th ranked Roseto (4-18) 75-61 on Saturday. Matelica made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Matelica outrebounded Roseto 52-37 including a 22-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Argentinian point guard Debora Gonzalez (170-1990, agency: Players Group) who scored 18 points and 6 assists. Dutch center Laura Steggink (185-1997) chipped in 10 points and 8 rebounds. Four Matelica players scored in double figures. Spanish-Argentinian power forward Erica Sanchez (182-1976) produced a double-double by scoring 28 points and 14 rebounds and Irish-American guard Anna Kelly (169, college: Fordham) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Matelica moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Broni and Savona. Roseto lost their seventh game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the thirteenth position with 18 games lost. They share it with Cagliari. Matelica will meet Cagliari (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Roseto will play against the league's second-placed Battipaglia and hope to secure a win.
