The game between closely ranked teams ended with tenth ranked Trieste's (9-14) home victory over 11th ranked Ponzano (7-16) 55-52 on Saturday. Trieste forced 23 Ponzano turnovers. The best player for the winners was guard Giorgia Sammartini (175-2001) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Croatian swingman Iva Bosnjak (182-2001) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Swedish swingman Amanda Tivenius (182-1996, college: CS Fullerton) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and forward Giovanna Pertile (182-1992) added 8 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Trieste moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Carugate and Mantova. Loser Ponzano dropped to the twelfth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Vigarano. Trieste will meet higher ranked Costa Masnaga (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ponzano will play against Broni (#5) and hope to secure a win.
