There was a small surprise in Corugate where twelfth ranked Bolzano BC (8-15) beat 9th ranked Carugate (9-14) 63-57 on Saturday. Bolzano BC forced 25 Carugate turnovers. The best player for the winners was power forward Giorgia Assentato (176-1999) who scored 20 points. Elena Vella (175-2000) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. Bolzano BC's coach Roberto Sacchi used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Canadian forward Christina Morra (188-2000, college: Wake Forest) produced 20 points and 7 rebounds and guard Ilaria Nespoli (177-2002) added 9 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Bolzano BC moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Ancona and RO SAzzurra. Carugate lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Mantova and Trieste. Bolzano BC will meet at home higher ranked Treviso (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Carugate will play against the league's second-placed Scrivia and will have a slim chance for a victory.
