Very expected game when 9th ranked Montbrison (9-11) lost at home to first ranked Charnay (17-3) 63-59 on Saturday. Charnay forced 19 Montbrison turnovers and outrebounded them 40-19 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by Mali center Diana Balayera (191-1996, agency: Areus Sports) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) and guard Johanna Muzet (183-1997, college: URI) supported her with 10 points and 7 rebounds. Charnay's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Even 22 points by American swingman Nukiya Mayo (190-1998, college: Towson) did not help to save the game for Montbrison. Guard Rachel Clet (161-2001) added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the hosts. Charnay have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 17-3 record. Montbrison lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Monaco. Charnay will meet at home Feytiat (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Montbrison will play against Calais (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
