Regular Season Round 24: Baskonia - Bilbao 100-78
Date: March 26, 2023
Everything went according to plan in Vitoria where second ranked Baskonia (20-4) outscored 11th ranked Bilbao (10-14) 100-78 on Sunday. Baskonia made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. The best player for the winners was Estonian center Maik-Kalev Kotsar (211-1996, college: S.Carolina) who scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Armenian-American center Steven Enoch (208-1997, college: Louisville) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. Five Baskonia players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international guard Francisco Alonso (191-1996, college: UNCG) who recorded 18 points and Bosnian-Finnish power forward Emir Sulejmanovic (205-1995) added 7 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Baskonia have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Real Madrid and Barca. Loser Bilbao keeps the eleventh place with 14 games lost. Baskonia will meet Valencia (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Bilbao will play against Zaragoza and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
