There was a minor upset when 11th ranked Ensino (11-16) lost to thirteenth ranked Jairis (11-16) in Alcantarilla 54-58 on Sunday. Jairis forced 19 Ensino turnovers. Canadian-Austrian guard Aislinn Konig (178-1998, college: NC State) notched 22 points to lead the effort and American-Slovenian power forward Shante Evans (185-1991, college: Hofstra) supported her with 4 points and 10 rebounds. Even 24 points and 7 rebounds by guard Alba Prieto (180-1999, college: S.Florida) did not help to save the game for Ensino. American forward Lydia Giomi (198-1997, college: Oregon) added 5 points and 10 rebounds for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Jairis moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Ensino and IDK Eustotren. Jairis will meet higher ranked Barca CBS (#10) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Ensino will play against Avenida and will have a slim chance for a victory.
