There was a minor upset when 13th ranked San Miniato (6-17) was edged at home by fifteenth ranked Empoli (5-18) 62-60 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Andrea Casella (195-1990) who scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Valerio Costa (185-1997, agency: SLN) chipped in 11 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Luca Tozzi (200-1999) who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Niccolo Venturoli (196-2000) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Empoli moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Matelica. San Miniato lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with 17 games lost. Empoli will meet at home Matelica (#15) in the next round. San Miniato will play against the league's second-placed Faenza where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
