Very predictable result when fifth ranked Algeciras (14-10) beat on the road 14th ranked Baskonia B (5-19) 90-81 on Sunday. They outrebounded Baskonia B 40-23 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Algeciras looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Senegalese forward Issa Thiam (208-1996, college: Rutgers) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Javier Marin (190-1992) who added 9 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. Four Algeciras players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Uruguayan-Greek forward Maximiliano Sole (195-1988) with 17 points and 8 rebounds and Senegalese Ousmane Ndiaye (210-2004) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Algeciras moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Navarra. Newly promoted Baskonia B keeps the fourteenth position with 19 games lost. They share it with Mollet. Algeciras will meet at home Tormes (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Baskonia B will play against Moron in Morón de la Frontera and hope to secure a win.
