There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked Sevilla (8-14) beat at home 9th ranked Leon (10-13) 65-58 on Sunday. They outrebounded Leon 45-28 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by Ana Flores who scored that evening 18 points and 8 rebounds and Diaw Absatou supported her with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Sevilla's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 8 points and 10 rebounds by Dominican Cesarina Capellan (178-2003) did not help to save the game for Leon. Marina Fernandez-Pacheco (-2000) added 14 points. Sevilla moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Coruna. Loser Leon keeps the ninth position with 13 games lost. Sevilla will meet Aridane (#13) in the next round. Leon will play against the league's second-placed Almeria (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
