The most important game in the last round took place in Madrid between second ranked Avenida (21-6) and eighth ranked Estudiantes (13-14) on Sunday night. Avenida was defeated by Estudiantes in a tough game on the road 72-78. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of Avenida. Belgian Becky Massey (186-2000) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Belgian center Billie Massey (184-2000) contributed with 10 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Estudiantes players scored in double figures. Canadian forward Bridget Carleton (185-1997, college: Iowa St.) replied with 16 points and 5 rebounds and Greek forward Maria Fasoula (196-1997, college: Vanderbilt) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Avenida. Avenida's coach Roberto Iniguez rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Estudiantes moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Araski. Defending champion Avenida dropped to the third position with six games lost. Estudiantes is looking forward to face Leganes (#15) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Avenida will play against Ensino (#11) and is hoping to win this game.
