Second Stage Round 5: Poitiers - Orchies 100-66

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Poitiers and 9th ranked Orchesien BC had identical 1-3 record. This time Poitiers used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Orchies 100-66 on Tuesday night. Poitiers dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Orchesien BC's 20. Poitiers forced 26 Orchesien BC turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Orchesien BC's players. American Courtney Stockard (196-1995, college: St.Bonaventure) nailed 16 points, 5 assists and 5 steals for the winning side and point guard Marius Chambre (182-1998) accounted for 12 points and 7 assists. Four Poitiers players scored in double figures. American power forward Joe Burton (203-1990, college: Oregon St., agency: GoEmpire Group) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and Lithuanian Augustinas Venckus (190-1997) added 12 points respectively for Orchesien BC in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Poitiers (2-3) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 5 other teams. Orchesien BC lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with four games lost. They share it with Besancon. Poitiers will meet higher ranked Caen (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Orchesien BC will play against Vitre (#4) and hope to win that game.
