Regular Season Round 21: Promitheas - AEK 85-72

There was a small surprise in Patras where sixth ranked Promitheas (12-9) beat 4th placed AEK (12-9) 85-72 on Thursday. Promitheas looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American point guard Anthony Cowan Jr (183-1997, college: Maryland) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 assists. His fellow American import Dustin Hogue (198-1992, college: Iowa St.) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was the former international point guard Dimitris Flionis (188-1997) who recorded 7 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and American guard Kenny Williams III (193-1996, college: UNC, agency: Slash Sports) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively. AEK's coach Ilias Kantzouris tested twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Promitheas moved-up to fourth place, which they share with PAOK and AEK. Promitheas will meet Aris (#8) in the next round. AEK will play against the league's leader Olympiacos (#1) and hope to secure a win.
