We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Ostrow Wlkp. where 5th ranked Stal (17-8) was defeated by sixth ranked Spojnia (16-10) 85-80 on Thursday. Spojnia made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Strangely Stal outrebounded Spojnia 43-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. American center Barret Benson (208-1997, college: SIU) fired a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Adam Brenk (192-1995) chipped in 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Spojnia players scored in double figures. Latvian guard Aigars Skele (193-1992) produced 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and Montenegrin Nemanja Djurisic (202-1992, college: Georgia) added 9 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Spojnia maintains sixth place with 16-10 record. Stal lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the third position with eight games lost. Spojnia will meet at home bottom-ranked Twarde Pierniki (#16) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Stal will play against Enea Zastal (#7) in Zielona Gora and hope to secure a win.
