There was no surprise in Wroclaw where 15th ranked Slask (12-21) was defeated by eleventh ranked Miast Szkla (16-17) 67-58 on Thursday. Latvian center Klavs Dubults (206-1996) stepped up and scored 17 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and Michal Jankowski (191-1987, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds. Miast Szkla's coach Edmunds Valeiko used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Maciej Bender (211-1997, college: Mercer) with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Aleksander Wisniewski (192-2003) scored 9 points and 4 assists. The victory was the third consecutive win for Miast Szkla. They maintain eleventh place with 16-17 record. Loser Slask keeps the fifteenth position with 21 games lost. Miast Szkla will meet at home SGH (#14) in the next round. Slask's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Wroclaw WKK.
