Regular Season Round 25: Zornotza - Burgos 90-76

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Burgos (24-2) in Amorebieta-Echano on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by third ranked Zornotza (17-8) 90-76. It ended at the same time the 14-game winning streak of Burgos. 28 personal fouls committed by Burgos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Alberto Cabrera (187-1998) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 8 rebounds, 12 assists and 4 steals. Mohamed Niang (198-2000) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Zornotza players scored in double figures. Guard Didac Cuevas (178-2000) answered with 24 points (made all of his eleven free throws !!!) and American guard Joe Cremo (193-1996, college: Villanova) added 18 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Burgos. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zornotza have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 17-8 record having eight points less than leader Prat. Burgos at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Zornotza are looking forward to face Melilla (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Burgos will play against Ponferrada (#6) and is hoping to win this game.
