Very expected game when 9th ranked Leon (10-14) was defeated on the road by second ranked Almeria (18-6) 73-63 on Saturday. Power forward Alicia Gonzalez (187-1986) fired 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Forward Maria Fernandez (175-1996) chipped in 14 points. Almeria's coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dominican Cesarina Capellan (178-2003) produced 15 points and 6 rebounds and Laura Gonzalez (-1998) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Leon players scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Almeria. They maintain second place with 18-6 record having just one point less than leader Castello. Leon lost their third game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 14 games lost. Almeria will meet Genero (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Leon will play against Aridane and hope to secure a win.
