Regular Season Round 21: Cactus - Kutaisi 77-82

We should mention about the upset which took place in Tbilisi, where higher ranked Cactus (10-9) lost at home to ninth ranked Kutaisi (8-11) 77-82 on Saturday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 31-12. But Cactus won second period 25-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Cactus 46-30 including 31 on the defensive glass. Kutaisi looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The former international swingman Kakhaber Jintcharadze (196-1993, agency: BIG) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and the former international point guard Luka Maziashvili (187-2000, college: UMass Lowell) chipped in 14 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. Maziashvili is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was the former international guard Revazi Chachanidze (183-1990) with 19 points and American guard Miles Daniels (190, college: UTPB) scored 17 points and 4 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion moved-up to eighth place. Loser Cactus keep the fifth position with nine games lost. Kutaisi will meet at home higher ranked Delta (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cactus' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Olimpi.
