Regular Season Round 21: Promitheas - Peristeri 91-83

The game between third ranked Peristeri (13-8) and sixth ranked Promitheas (12-9) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Peristeri was defeated by Promitheas in a tough game in Patras 83-91. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Peristeri. Promitheas shot 62.7 percent from the field. It was a great shooting night for Promitheas especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Peristeri helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American swingman Trevis Simpson (193-1991, college: UNCG) stepped up and scored 23 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners and his fellow American import point guard Anthony Cowan Jr (183-1997, college: Maryland) chipped in 13 points and 13 assists. Five Promitheas players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Croatian center Miro Bilan (213-1989) with 18 points and 9 rebounds and American Ian Hummer (201-1990, college: Princeton) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Peristeri's coach Vassilis Spanoulis rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Promitheas moved-up to fourth place, which they share with PAOK and AEK. Peristeri at the other side keeps the third position with eight games lost. Promitheas is looking forward to face Aris (#8) in Thessaloniki in the next round. Peristeri's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Panathinaikos.
