Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Varese (14-10) edged on the road 10th ranked Treviso (10-14) 97-95 on Sunday. Varese made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American guard Colbey Ross (185-1998, college: Pepperdine) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 27 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists and the other American import swingman Jaron Johnson (196-1992, college: Louisiana Tech) supported him with 23 points and 7 rebounds. Even 31 points by American-Israeli Adrian Banks (191-1986, college: Arkansas St.) did not help to save the game for Treviso. Lithuanian forward Paulius Sorokas (202-1992, agency: Players Group) added 20 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Varese moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Sassari. Loser Treviso dropped to the eleventh position with 14 games lost. They share it with Trieste. Varese will meet at home Reggio Emilia (#14) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Treviso will play against Sassari and hope to secure a win.
