Regular Season Round 27: Burgos - Albacete 81-91

There was a surprise result when seventeenth ranked Albacete (6-21) won against on the road higher ranked Burgos (16-11) 91-81 on Wednesday. They outrebounded Burgos 36-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for forward Ivan Aurrecoechea (204-1995, college: NM State) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 13 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Danish swingman David Knudsen (190-1994, college: Marist, agency: Players Group) helped adding 19 points. Four Albacete players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Khyri Thomas (190-1996, college: Creighton) with 27 points and American-Nigerian Obi Enechionyia (205-1995, college: Temple) scored 12 points. Burgos' coach Paco Olmos rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Albacete moved-up to sixteenth place, which they share with Melilla and Iraurgi SB. Loser Burgos dropped to the eighth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Gipuzkoa. Albacete will meet at home Iraurgi SB (#17) in the next round. Burgos will play against Caceres (#13) and hope to secure a win and be promoted back to the Liga Endesa just one year after relegation.
