Regular Season Round 27: Denain-Voltaire - Chalon/Saone 79-74

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Chalon/Saor (19-8) against twelfth ranked Denain Voltaire (12-15) on Friday night. Visiting Chalon/Saor was defeated by Denain Voltaire in a tough game in Denain 74-79. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Chalon/Saor. It was a great evening for swingman Babacar Niasse (193-2000) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Matthieu Missonnier (186-1997) helped adding 13 points and 9 assists. The best for the losing side was Swedish center Mattias Markusson (220-1996, college: LMU) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) and Croatian guard Antonio Jordano (190-1999) scored 18 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Denain Voltaire moved-up to eleventh place. Chalon/Saor at the other side keeps the second position with eight games lost. They share it with Boulazac. Denain Voltaire will play against higher ranked Entente Orleans 45 (#8) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Chalon/Saor will play against the league's leader Saint-Quentin (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
